The Montenegrin assault on the Albanians of Tendina, Merkoviq, and Matagush in 1880

When Albanians lived in Priboj, Velipojë, and Prijepolje in 1879

On 27.05.1879, the paper “FLAG”, No. 77, published an article from Pest. Lloyd mentioning, among other things, that the Arnauts (Albanians) would not opposse the occupation of Priboj, Velipolje and Prebolje (Priboj, Velipojë, and Prijepolje). This shows that Albanians lived in these regions.

“According to “Pest. Lloyd”, the Porte declared to the Austro Hungarian representative that due to the current circumstances in the Kosovo vilayet, it was permissible to disarm the Arnauts. As long as the Greek-Turkish question, which gives the Arnauts no peace, is not eliminated from the world , that province cannot be pacified. In the meantime, the Porte is convinced that the Arnauts will not oppose the occupation of Priboj, Velopolje and Prepolje.”
