Cited:
“Ragoljub K. Jovanović published a book in Belgrade in 1880, as he himself says, Study on the Albanians (90 pages). He states that foreign influences resulted in “only ignorance and ignorance of the common interests” of these two peoples.
In the magazine Otadzbina (1890), owned by Dr. Vladan Đorđević, Stojan Novaković criticizes Greek historians for “presenting the Albanians not as a separate people, but as a tribe, both in origin and language, and in history, originally Greek.”
In the book Serbia and the Balkan Alliance (1893), geographer Vladimir Karić harshly criticizes the attitude of the Greeks towards the Orthodox Albanians of Chameria and Epirus, who fought en masse in the uprising against the Turks.
“Poor Albanians! How terribly the Hellenophiles and Greek emigrants have robbed them, for they have not only taken the land, which they liberated from the Turks with their heroic blood… but also called their glorious revolt Greek”. He wonders if “the most terrible crime in history has not been committed”.
