“Montenegro. The Osserv Triest reports from Scutari on the 28th of this month that Albania is preparing for another Montenegrin attack. Regarding the events in Kuci, all accounts agree that the Montenegrins acted with the utmost inhumanity. They have been spreading murder, robbery, and arson indiscriminately in all directions.
Forty Catholic families, along with their priest, managed to escape their fury, but fourteen lost their homes and possessions, and even the church was plundered. Two hundred Turks, regardless of age or gender, including some young women and children, were slaughtered.
A Catholic inhabitant was busy securing some belongings when six Montenegrins attacked him and hacked him to pieces. At this sight, his wife went mad. She set fire to the cradle in which her several-months-old child lay, smashed her four-year-old daughter, then set fire to the hut and fell to her death. Abdi Pasha is said to have received instructions from Constantinopel to depart for Albania with 8 Tabors, and another 10,000 men were expected to follow him.”
