In the publication “Dalmazia etnica, incontri e fusioni” by Oscar Randi  from 1943, we can read that Sutomore in Montenegro derives from the Albanian word “Holy Mary” which is “Sutamara”.

“… Sutomore is a corruption of << Sutamara >>: Holy Mary, in Albanian . Moreover, the entire population of this corner bears evident signs of the Albanian race , in the way they dress, in the way they speak, in their homes.”
