When the Albanians of Cape Matapan and Morea danced the Albanian Phyrric dance in 1808

In the book “Miszellen für die neueste Weltkunde” Vol. 2, by Heinrich Zschokke, 1808, we can read that the inhabitants of the Morea Peninsula and the Lacedemani (Mainotes) would dance the Albanian Phyrric Dance.

Cited:

“The Albanians also dance a kind of war dance that bears some resemblance to the Pyrrhic dance of the ancients. The lyre is played, but what a warble! Just as in Italy poetry has many improvisers, here it has The music: The musicians immediately compose on the spot.”
