“Turkey Incidents on the Montenegrin Border:

Regarding recent events on the Montenegrin border, namely near Lake Scutari, the following reports have reached Dons Ztg, which date back to the 30th of November. On November 27, 800 Montenegrins went to Scutari and from there to the Turkish estate of Muriki (Muriqi) located on Lake Scutari. At the same time, another detachment went to the small Turkish village of Riepci (Repsh)

Arriving there, the Montenegrins burned all the houses and murdered six people, including one child. In Muriki (Muriqi) they burned six houses and murdered two people. They were then allowed to go to the larger Turkish estate of Fugemille (Tudgjemilë) but were dispersed by a 500-man volunteer detachment, which the Pasha sent from Scutari.

In the skirmish that ensued, 4 furs were killed, 20 were wounded, and 1 boy was captured. On the Montenegrin side, 10. The heads of the fallen Montenegrins were sent to Scutari, where 29 of them were exhibited all day. The banner was also hung from the fortress in Scutari. The inhabitants of Scestani (Shestan) seeing the new Montenegrin troops, burned their straw huts, locked themselves in several stone houses and bricked up the doors, and stood ready to defend themselves.

The women, children, and the Catholic parish priest from Scestani went to Antivari. The Montenegrins stopped for a moment because they were waiting for reinforcements from Kernizza and Selza. The Pasha of Scutari sent a fresh army to Scestani under Hassan Hotti. There is no doubt that the above-mentioned expedition took place with the consent of the Prince of Montenegro. Its commander, Cop Joko, declared everywhere that he had the order to take over the entire district of Kraja on Lake Scutari and then go to Antivari.”
