The Greek-Turkish alliance against the Albanians

The Greek-Turkish alliance against the Albanians

The photo shows the Metropolitan of Korça, Fotis Kallpidhis (with a characteristic surname that is synonymous with all Greeks) with Turkish soldiers in Korça. Fotis Kallpidhis was a staunch anti-Albanian. In May 1902, Fotis Kallpidhis was appointed Metropolitan of Voskopoja, Korça and Përmet.

He began the activity for the Hellenization of the Albanian Orthodox, like many other clergymen. Fotis Kalpidhis financed the opening of several Greek schools in the Prefecture of Korça where Albanian children studied. For these actions, Metropolitan Foti received praise even from the Greek state. He, together with the Turks, killed the Albanian teacher and patriot Kristo Negovani.

And in the end, this last moment had come when the Bajo Topulli detachment killed Kallpidhis by killing the Greek chauvinist.
