The Serbian mass murderer Berkic who killed 600 Albanians in 1897

In 1897, the paper “Albania” published an article about a Serb mass murderer named Berkic, who was baptized as “The Car of the Mountains”, who had killed 500 to 600 Albanians, and many animals as well, numbering 1400 in total.

Translation

“SERBIA. The Serbs never tire of calling the Albanians savages: The work proves that the Serbs are more savage. Last month, a famous robber (named Berkic) appeared in Serbia, whom they had christened the Tsar of Malve. This man had killed 5 or 6 hundred people and more animals than we can even count. According to his account, more than 1400 people were killed. In addition, there are great injustices in Serbia, and, as it seems, bribery reigns supreme.”
