Today, November 27, marks the 115 years anniversary since the public hanging of two Albanians from the Gjakova Highlands, Shaban Binaku and Avdullah Hoxha, by order of Turkish commander Dergut Pasha and the Young Turks in the market square of Gjakova.

The Young Turk Government made their hanging public in order to frighten the people who had risen up against the invading beast for centuries. Shaban Binaku belonged to the large family of Binak Ali (Mulosmanaj Krasniqe).

Avdullah Hoxha belonged to the Gash tribe of the Gjakova Highlands.
He was a hoxha but followed the path of many patriots where national freedom was above all for him. Together with Shaban Binaku and other patriots, he participated in many battles and national assemblies.

Thanks to their blood and the generations before them and after them who fell in the field of honor, we today enjoy freedom and independence in our two Albanian states: Albania and Kosovo.
