The Albanian Revolution was based on Nationalism and the Greek Revolution on Orthodoxy

In the book “Ethnic Minorities in the Balkan States” we can read that while the Greek nationalism was based on the Orthodox faith, the Albanian revolutions were based on only nationalism. The Albanian Muslim (denoted as Mahommedan) would fire on the soldiers of the Caliphat for the Albanian nation and liberty.

p. 310:

“The State, as a moral entity, has no official religion. There is no conqueror and conquered, as in Turkey. On the other hand, the Greek State is a State in which there is an established religion, Orthodoxy. The emblem of the Greek revolution contained the words “For Faith and Country”, where as the symbol of the Albanian revolution was only nationalism. The Albanian Mahommedan fired without compunction on the soldiers of the Caliphat, in the name of Country, Liberty and Nationalism.”

Comment: The same can be said of the Serbian or Orthodox revolutions and expansionist movements onto Albanian territories. These invading revolutiosn were based on Slavic Orthodoxism.
