In 1747, a certain Grillo di Perasto (Grillo of Perast) attacked and plundered the Albanian pirates of Ulqin. When he traveled to Vlorë with his family the Ulqin pirates spotted him, chased him down and arrested him, handing him over to the Pasha of Shkodër. The locals of Perasto vowed vengance, and led by a certain Stefano Bujovic, they engaged in battle with the Ulqin pirates, and lost. The Ottomans then theatened Venice with war for having allowed this situation to escalate.

Cited:

“In 1747, a Venetian adminstrator named Balbi complained to the Venetian Grand Council about a certain Grillo di Perasto who had been banished from Perast and then became a wealthy pirat who attacked the pirates of Ulqin. He then travelled with his family to Valona (Vlorë) where he was spotted by the Dulcignotte pirates who decided to avenge themselves.

When Perasto travelled back, he was chased by the Dulcignotte pirates. Perasto and his wife, along other females, were arrested and transported to Scutari (Shkoder) where they were handed over to Jussuf Pasha of Scutari. The inhabitants of Perasto then vowed vengeance against the Dulcingottes. This led to a fight between the inhabitants of Perasto, led by Stefano Bujovich, and the Dulcignottes, resulting in serious damage for Bujovichs crew. The Ottomans reportedly threatened Venice with war, resulting in the inhabitants of Perasto being punished.”
