Leme Hera was an Albanian woman Peqin who on December 4, 1912, killed 2 invading Serbian soldiers. Leme Hera was the wife of Xhem Hera and the daughter of Mulla Kamber Kuqi from a tribe heard in Peqin. Leme Hera lived in a house in the northern part of Peqin in the Ferrufe neighborhood, who to protect her property and honor killed two Serbian soldiers with a spear during the control and raid of her house. The Serbs also massacred many boys at Ballagat.
Leme Hera was seriously injured and died the next day on December 5. This event echoed and raised the heroism and bravery of the Peqin woman who gave her life to protect the freedom, honor and dignity of her city. For this outstanding event of bravery that caused a great stir in Peqin and Albania, newspapers wrote and hymned it with.
The great Austro-Hungarian newspaper “Neue Frei Presse” echoed the great bravery of the Peqin woman. The brave Leme Hera is the embodiment of the Albanian woman, the embodiment of the defense of freedom, as well as the embodiment of revenge against the savage Serbian invader who did not spare even women.
The newspaper Atdheu writes: “Europe will be convinced when it sends a commission to see how much innocent blood was shed by the savage Serbian murderers in Peqin. “
