In 1879, there was an Albanian revolt led by the League of Prizren in the region of Taslıca (turk. Taschlidza) modern day Plevle. In a German newsarticle from the same year we can read of a revolt in “Plevle (Taschlidza)”:
“Confirmation of earlier reports about Turkish troops. Besides the concentration camps, new developments in Albania are reported. Weapons are being distributed to the population in Pashalik Novibazar by the Turkish government. Agitators have arrived in Plevle (Tashlidza) and Prjepolje on the Bosnian border, who are trying to incite the population against the neighboring governments.
The Turkish authorities state that these are the activities of the League, while in reality the agitation originates from and is directed by the government of the Kosovo Vilayet. The Commandant of Kosovo is currently traveling to Prizren to reach an agreement with the leaders of the Albanian League on sending a 12,000-strong Albanian auxiliary corps to Macedonia in the event that the Insurrection should break out anew there”.
