In this article Albanian activist Damir Dibra writes that he has sent an official request to the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and the Municipality of Tivat, regarding the lack of Albanian language in the inscriptions, information boards and directions in the Tivar Castle (Old Tivari).

Currently, all texts in this important historical monument are written only in Montenegrin, although the Tivat Castle is located in an area where Albanians are autochthonous and an inseparable historical part of the city. The use of the Albanian language in public and cultural spaces is not a privilege, but a right guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws in force, as well as a fundamental European standard of respect for cultural and linguistic diversity.

The lack of the Albanian language creates symbolic exclusion, violates equality and does not reflect the multiethnic character of Montenegro. For this reason, I have requested that all writings, explanatory texts and directions in the Tivar Castle include the Albanian language, equally and visibly. This is a fair, legal and minimal request, but of great importance for respect, dignity and coexistence.
