On the night of December 23, 1949, Salih Rexhë Ribari and his son, Rexhep Salihu, fell fighting. That winter night they were in a house in the village of Petrovë, near Shtime. That same night, between December 23 and 24, Nezir Buja from the village of Bujan was captured alive and a week later was cruelly executed, while Zekë Luma from the village of Kraishtë also disappeared without a trace.

Salih Rexhëp Ribari’s platoon had remained in the mountains of Kosovo from the winter of 1945 until the end of 1949, in an attempt to reorganize the general armed war against the Yugoslavia of the time. In 1944, Salih Rexha, by order of Ilaz Agushi and with the consent of Kadri Bebë Ribari, was appointed commander of the volunteer units of Lypljan and the surrounding area, on the Prapashtica Front.

Together with Sadri Duhla, Qerim Gashi and others, he was a security guard at the site where the Lipovica Congress was held, on July 25, 1946. He participated in the fighting on Hoqë of Prizren against Yugoslav military forces, on August 8, 1946. During those years, Salih Rexha and his platoon carried out numerous actions and since they had acted with trust, their prudence and bravery were never revealed.

In the winter of 1947, Salih Rexha and his platoon broke through the siege of the OZN forces, in a place called “Zhablak”, on which occasion his comrade Islam Domaneku was killed, Mustafa Dragusha had been killed the night before, while Zeke Luma was seriously wounded during the breach of the siege.
