“ZIJA SHEMSIU
Today marks forty years since the Qetniks killed you,
precisely in Belgrade,
in a bloody prison.
Two years of torture,
together without ever stopping,
unfortunately,
slowly,
they took your soul.
Because they knew well,
never give up,
except until the end,
you must fight.
When you know the Armet themselves,
they were so sad,
that’s why they didn’t let you out of prison alive.
While other friends,
father and brother,
stayed there for years,
in the cell.
Unfortunately,
they never recovered from the torture,
and some later,
even changed their lives.
There are also those who are alive,
they live in pain,
they never change the oath they gave,
they never change.
When you know everywhere,
they act today,
the trust of the Brave,
they can take you to your place.
Eternal glory,
A national hero,
who was among the first in the war,
with no equal.
You were and remain,
an idol for Albanians,
just as you were a sadness,
for traitors everywhere.”
