Baja Omerovic and Ivan Makstimovic, two notorious Serbian criminals. have been sentenced fifty-eight times, at Belgrade, to be hanged wholesale murders, and to be imprisoned for 180 years each. They broke gaol, and committed many atrocities after they had been sentenced in 1924. They were then recaptured. The numerous sentences were necessary to conform to the Servian code, which provides that there must be a separate sentence for every offence.”
