The execution of the Serbian police and war criminal “Vidomir Shalipuri” by Albanian freedom fighter Avni Elezaj

The killing of “Shalipuri” for Peja was like the Freedom of Kosovo. Of course, when historical dates are marked in our country, which stem from a painful past, the celebration increases in meaning when we know how much and how we have suffered as a people, so we have selected a notorious case to bring to you, which talks about the Serbian policeman, the criminal Vidomir Shalipuri and his ending with him being executed by Avni Elezaj.

Avni Elezaj

“Shalipuri” was a Serbian policeman, whose presence increased the suffering in the city of Peja, and who was part of the military group of the Serbian occupier “Munja”, led by Nebojsa Miniq, known as “Mrtvi”, a group that is held responsible for the murders and massacres in Western Kosovo, of which “Shalipuri” was also part, who was the perpetrator of many beatings, robberies, rapes and even kidnapping and killing Albanians.

According to the accounts of the merchants of the Long Quarter in Peja, every time this criminal passed through their street, no shopkeeper escaped without being the target of his violence, and even every time the Serbian criminal groups started a massacre, the “Munja” and “Shalipuri” groups would lead the executions.

But, the group of boys of the Kosovo Liberation Army did not stand idly by, they did not wait for the war to end to remove an “oppression” from our city, in which case in 1999 they took revenge on “Munja” and “Shalipuri”.

According to the accounts of citizens from the villages of Novoselle and Jabllanicë in Peja, it was Avni Elezaj who in April 1999 would kill the Serbian criminal policeman, Vidomir Shalipuri, while many members of “Munja” were killed by the best boys and girls of the KLA. According to accounts, the echo of the news of the murder of the cause of the suffering of the citizens of Peja was almost like the news of Kosovo’s freedom.
