Islam Bali Nokshiqi was an Albanian freedom fighter who was killed on the 5th of April 1947 by the Yugoslav Secret Service (UDB) in Molliq, Gjakova. He was the son of Bali Bajram Nokshiqi (1860-1944) who was killed in war fighting Serbian and Montenegrin invaders at the Battle of Shekular.
It has been 75 years since the communist forces of Enver Hoxha and Tito, in collaboration with each other, killed dozens and hundreds of patriots and fighters who fought and worked for the unification of Albanian lands, and who spent their entire lives defending the Çakorr-Moker-Kulla of Zhlepi border.
Among them were father and son, who were known as the greatest men of that time. Bali Bajrami falls heroically in the Battle of Shekullari, while Islami (his son) is shot dead on the thirtieth in Molliq, Gjakova by the Yugoslav Udba.
Today and as long as I am alive, I feel an obligation to humble and honor his name and the tombstone erected in Junik of the wise and the brave. Welcome, uncle Islam, and welcome, I am leaving you in the land of the wisdom of Dukagjini, in the legendary Junik. I came this time too with the 98 years carried on the shoulders of uncle Shaban Nokshiqi and with the longing for uncle Din Nokshiqi, whom you did not have the fortune to know and warm with the warmth of your heart.
May the men of Nokshiqi rest in peace and glory be to him forever
