When the French newspaper Le Charivari asked the Albanian Arvanites to give up their language in 1862

According to “Document no. 63 of the album Arvanite – Arbërore – Albanian Language “, published in the InforCulture, the French newspaper Le Charivare asked the Albanians, the Arvanites, to give up their language (Albanian) in 1862.

Transcribed from the article:

“Addressed to: the Arvanites.
“Brave, may your revolution be a blessing even for poor students! Burn your dictionaries and grammars, give up your language that is our nightmare and you will be blessed by the new generation.”

This is another evidence of the Albanian heritage of the Arvanites, having maintained their identity until the 1860s.
