This article is dedicated to a poem by Muazad writing about Serbian atrocities against the Albanians of Nish, Leskoc, Vranje, Preshevë, Gjilan and Zhegovc (1912-1999).

Translation:

“They massacered me for a century (the massacre of the Albanian people by the Serbian gendarmerie, 1912-1999)
Monday
I was born in Nish
At night, when my grandfather was murdered
The gendarmes murdered him with long knives
Tuesday
I leave for Leskovac
On the way, they kidnapped my great aunt
The gendarmes stopped them from playing with her body
Wednesday
We fled to Vranje
The animals did not poop in the river
The gendarmes stopped the little aunt and the cattle
Thursday
I stop in Preshevo
The murderers direct me to Turkey
Two brothers and sisters were roasted in the oven
Why ….we did not follow the gendarmes’ orders
Friday
Night overtook us in Gjilan
They stuck my grandfather’s skull in a hole
They strangled my grandmother with a pitchfork wood
Saturdays
We came to the Zhegovci Mountains
Under the open sky we stretched our legs
Only the gendarmes don’t find the way
Sunday
Father built the hut with birches
Out of a hundred members, three were forgotten
Father, mother and I will start life from scratch
