The oldest Albanian in the world – 129 year old Galjo Zymberov Vukelj (1828-1957)

Galjo Zymberov Vukelj (1828-1957) or Gal Zymer Vukli was an Albanian from the village of Peshkaj in Malesi of Rozhaje. This was Smajl Daci’s grandfather from his uncle’s side. According to this photo and local information, Gal Zymer died in 1957 and lived to be 129 years old, making him one of the oldest people in the world ever recorded.

Citation from Haxhi Lajçi, an Albanian local related to Gal Zymer of Rozhajë:

“My grandfather from my mother, now deceased, Have Vukli is from the village of Peshkaj, Malësia e Rozhajës! Regarding longevity, it is completely accurate, Zymer Gali Vukli lived as long as it says there.
His grave is located above the village of Peshkaj, near the caravan road, a road that was once very well traveled: Shkodër – Rugovë Rozhajë – Novi Pazar and vice versa! Respect for you who posted. This photo was kept and preserved with fanaticism by my uncle, also now deceased Ramush Vukli”.
