The Zymi Primer (May 20, 1900) was found in the Central Archives of the Republic of Albania. Known as the Zymi Primer, it has 80 pages, 33 letters and sounds, making it the oldest ABC that we preserve today.
The primer belongs to the second half of the 19th century, is made in Latin letters and in an explanatory material that accompanies the typewritten primer, it is revealed that it was donated to Lumo Skendo by Professor Luigj Shala, who found it in Prizren on May 20, 1900.
According to specialists, in the circumstances of Ottoman rule, this text has value as one of the first Albanian primers in Kosovo. The Zymi Primer is carved in stone and a photograph there is a significant memory for every Albanian. National symbolism prevails everywhere in Zymi, since the core of Albanian identity is so well preserved there.
