In the mountains of Tepelenë stands a Greek-language plaque honoring foreign soldiers, where flowers are regularly placed and respect is shown. Meanwhile, the Hormovë Memorial for Albanian victims of a bloody massacre has been held hostage for years.
This is no longer negligence — it is a betrayal of national memory. Those responsible are Mirela Kumbaro, deputy Peçi, and the Tepelenë Municipal Council. All remain silent and inactive.
How is it possible that occupiers are honored on our soil while Albanian victims are denied a dignified memorial? What is being hidden? Whose interests are being served? Why the double standard?
Every day the Hormovë Memorial is blocked is an insult to our history and a shame for those in public office. Enough with the silence, the deceptions, and the submission.
If any dignity remains in this country, this injustice must end. The plaque is on Mount Golik in Tepelenë, site of the Italo-Greek War, and reads: “Glory and honor to you, immortal Tsoliades (Greek guards) of Golik. We humbly honor your memory.”
