On May 4, 1448, an individual proposed to the authorities of the Republic of Venice that he had a way to carry out the assassination of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, in exchange for a reward of 100 ducats per year.
The response recorded in the Senate registers of the Republic of Venice is telling: if he were to carry out this act, the Republic was prepared to pay him for the rest of his life and keep him under its favor and protection.
The same decision also emphasized that Venetian possessions in Albania were in clear danger and required immediate measures.
