When Skopje (Shkupi), Peja and Akova (Bjelopolje) was inhabited by Albanians (17th-19th century)

A 17th-century traveling Turkish writer of Slavic origin, Miran Alen, says of Skopje: “The inhabitants of this city speak Albanian and are Mohammedan and Catholic.” In 1845, Jovan Bugaresky confirms that the White Field of Akova (Bjelopolje) is Albanian, and three years later, in 1848, the Serb N. Davidovic states that: “Kosovo and Metohija, i.e. the regions of Peja, are entirely inhabited by Albanians”
