The Mystery of the Stone Spheres in Tepelena

The Mystery of the Stone Spheres in Tepelena

Albanian activist Abdullah Diku, through some photos he published some time ago on his Facebook page, has discovered the stone spheres in Lekdush, Tepelena.

He said he took these photos along the Lekdush-Nivica road, where some pumice stones have stone spheres placed inside them that can be seen from afar.

“The ‘mystery’ of the stone spheres in Lekdush, Tepelena. On the side of the Lekdush-Nivicë road, in some pumice stones, several stone spheres placed inside them are visible from afar.

It is obvious that the stone spheres have a different composition than pumice, but their roundness is amazing. The spheres are made of limestone, conglomerate or white marble.

The process of erosion over hundreds and thousands of years has caused the pumice to wear away, exposing the stone spheres to the surface.

“Only geologists can properly explain this phenomenon and how nature has carved such spheres to perfection! Otherwise, we will also have our own spheres with mysterious origins, as have been discovered in several other places around the world!” he wrote.
