There exists records of a 300 year old northern Albanian song about the death of Mahmud Pasha, mentioned in the 1880s in a Dutch book.

“Pra pushtoni Malin e Zi o luanë të Shkodrës. Përpara ju mirditorë, bijtë dhe luftëtarët e mi besnikë. Bëji jobesimtarët dhe jobesimtarët të qajnë lot gjaku dhe le të hakmerret mijërafish për vdekjen e Mahmud Pashës”

Translation:

“So conquer Montenegro, o lions of Shkodra. Forward, you men of Mirdita, my faithful sons and warriors. Make the infidels and infidels weep tears of blood, and let them take revenge a thousandfold for the death of Mahmud Pasha.”
