From Albanian historian and author Qazim Namanis testimony about Bulgarian war crimes
“They swept away the flour with brooms and left the children and elderly of the Albanian population without food. They stole gold, raped women, and even tore off their ears to take their earrings! They have always been like this in all wars. My grandmother used to tell how, after they left our village in 1944, when the villagers returned they found all the cheese vats completely polluted, because the Bulgarian soldiers had defecated on the cheese.”
