Together with Bajram Curri and Hasan Prishtina, he signed the petition for the revision of the 1913 borders and the reunification of Albanian territories. For this reason, Nikola Pašić’s Serbian government sentenced him to death.

In 1919, Serbian gendarmerie surrounded his tower in Verbovcë. Sulejman managed to break through the encirclement and escape, but in revenge, the Serbs burned his tower and buried his brother Isuf alive.

Later, Enver Hoxha’s Special Court sentenced him to 30 years in prison and forced labor, along with Sokrat Dodbiba, Et’hem Cara, Anton Kozmaçi, Sami Koka, Mihal Zallari, Ndoc Naraçi, and Lazër Radi.

On October 15, 1945, Sulejman Vuçiterna died in the Vloçisht camp, in the Maliq swamp, where he was serving his sentence.

Seriously ill and without medical help, he himself cut off his toes with a razor. The camp commander, Tasi Marko (brother of Rita Marko), refused to send him to the hospital in Korçë.

According to testimonies, Sulejman was buried by the reeds of the Maliq swamp while still alive, so that his bones would never be found.
