Despite in close connection, the Venetians were not entirely pro-Albanian, nor pro-Skënderbeu, but very clearly pro-Venice alone. In the documents below, we have an instance of Venice making deals with the Ottomans behind Skënderbeu’s back. A few instances mention:
“Ad damna Scanderbeghi” – plans and actions against Skënderbeu;
“Teucros in Albaniam” – moving Ottoman troops in Albania;
“Scanderbegho non modo de Albania, sed de mundo ejiciatur” – to drive out Skënderbeu not only from Albania, but from the “world”.
