Mr. Aubrey Herbert: When Greek soldiers hacked Albanian babies and raped women in 1914

“STORY OF ATROCITIES. UNSPEAKABLE CRUELTIES. SLAUGHTER OF HELPLESS.

By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright. LONDON, July 28.

The story of an eye-witness who declared that a hundred Greek officers were exterminating the villagers in Southern Albania, is quoted by Mr. Aubrey Herbert, in a letter to the Times.

A hundred thousand refugeos were crowding into Valona from Berat and Korutia.

The streets were full of naked bodies of women, cach with a mark of strangulation. Little babies were hacked to pieces with knives.

The Greeks burnt the whole coun-try-side to cover the trace of their atrocities.

Albanians are killing their wives and children to prevent them falling into the hands of the Greeks.”
