The role of Serbian “beauty queen” Liljana Zikić Karadordević in the Lybeniq Massacre where Albanians were murdered in 1999

On 01.04 1999, the village of Lybeniq in Peja became the site of one of the most tragic events of the Kosovo war. Serbian paramilitary forces invaded the village, surrounding homes and forcibly removing residents. Civilians were separated, gatheredand subsequently executed with over 80 ethnic albanians, men, women, and children killed, including an 18 month old baby and a pregnant woman. In just a few hours, an entire village was devastated. This is the documented reality of that day.

Serbia often presents a distorted version of events, glorifying figures like in this case of Liljana Zikić Karadordević as a “heroine” and former “beauty queen” (in serbian beauty standards) who supposedly sacrificed herself in battle. While Serbian media hails her as a symbol of valor, they conveniently overlook her role in the Lybeniq massacre, where innocent lives, as i mentioned above even including an 8 month old baby and a pregnant woman.

This propaganda stories serve to sanitize the actions of serbian war criminals, transforming them into celebrated figures while obscuring the horrific realities of their deeds….because lets be real they dont really have much “heroes” to be proud of. Their history is full of bloodthirsty warcriminals.

What happened in Lybeniq should not be a symbol of propaganda. It should be a reminder of a grave crime that happened in Kosovo in which they still haven’t received justice for.

Rip to all the martyrs.
