Following public concerns, the condition of Dom Nik Ukgjini’s artifacts at the Albanological Institute is being verified

Pristina – After the publication of several concerns in the media regarding the condition of artifacts collected by Dom Nik Ukgjini in the Plavë-Gucia region and delivered to the Albanological Institute of Pristina in 2001, the editorial staff of our portal has requested direct information from the responsible institutions to understand the real condition of this precious cultural treasure.

For this purpose, the editorial team contacted Mr. Enver Prelvukaj, who visited the Albanological Institute, where he met with Academician Zymer Neziri and the secretary of the Institute, Mr. Adil Olluri.

During the visit, Mr. Prelvukaj had the opportunity to see up close the exhibits of the Ethnological Museum of Doli near the Albanological Institute, including the artifacts collected over the years by Dom Nik Ukgjini in Plavë-Guci. According to him, the actual condition of the exhibits is completely different from what can be perceived from public debates.

“All the artifacts I saw are preserved with special care and treated as an important part of our national heritage. No exhibit has been damaged and the museum collection continues to be protected,” he told our portal.

According to information received during the meeting, the identified problem is related to the need to renovate the roof of the Albanological Institute building, an infrastructure issue that requires investment and periodic maintenance, as is the case with any building of this nature.

Important news in this regard is the fact that just a few days ago a contract worth 100 thousand euros was signed for the renovation and insulation of the roof of the Albanological Institute. This investment is expected to eliminate any existing problems and improve the conditions for the preservation of archival, documentary and museum materials.

Mr. Prelvukaj emphasized that during his visit he was informed in detail about the state of the institution and the measures being taken to protect cultural heritage.

“I did not come to hear interpretations or polemics, but to see the reality. The reality I saw is that the artifacts are there, preserved and protected. The roof restoration is a routine maintenance process and funding has already been secured for its implementation,” he said.

The artifacts collected by Dom Nik Ukgjini constitute an extraordinary historical and ethnological treasure for the Plavë-Gucia region and for Albanian culture in general. They are the result of many years of work, carried out with dedication and love for the preservation of our national memory.

Equally important has been the contribution of the families and mountaineers of Plavë-Gucia, who over the years entrusted these objects to the Albanological Institute with the belief that they would be preserved for future generations.

From what was seen and confirmed during this visit, this belief continues to be justified. Above all, the fact that investment has already been secured for the restoration of the facility provides additional guarantees that this precious treasure will continue to be preserved in even better conditions in the future.
