Serbian atrocities against Hungarians in Kumand in 1849

In this publication from 1849 written by Ludwig Kossuth we can read of a report of Serbian bandits kidnapping Hungarian civilians in Kumand, eported from Közlöny.

Cited:

“From the Közlöny we learn the following news from the lower regions of Kumand: Yesterday, the 21st, between 5 and 6 pm, a Serbian band of robbers arrived here in 15 wagons, broke into the homes of the local priest Veselinovic and Szekulic, and, after smashing and plundering everything in the house, dragged them away bound with their wives and children to the camp. Several inhabitants were persuaded by their threats to go with them. A commissioner sent to the scene, Sigmund Kazri, was also bound and dragged away. N Becskerek, July 22nd.
