Serbian atrocities against Hungarians of Sikoviza of Orsova, Moldova and Weizenried in 1881

In 1881, the “Leipaer Zeitung” reported about Serbian robberies in Sikoviza (Orsova), Moldova and Weizenried.

“Robbery in Hungary. From Temesvar, 15th day, it is reported that in Sikoviza, in the Orsova district, tobacco planters opposed the financial authorities. Violence ensued, and many arrests were made. 120 Honvéds and 5 officers were dispatched there. In the same district, a well-organized Serbian band of robbers invaded. The robbers robbed and assaulted the inhabitants of Moldova and Weizenried. Several of them were seriously injured, including the county custodian and the district knight. A squadron of Hussars was dispatched there.”
