If the Serbian national football team had not been shamefully eliminated from the World Cup in Qatar, today we would not see the escalation of the crisis in northern Kosovo.
We would see Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, the oldest and most famous hooligan in the Balkans, fanatically cheering in the honorary box in Doha, taking pictures with Arab sheikhs and all his perversities being broadcast immediately by TV Pink.
Vučić would lie for a long time and extensively that the success of the national football team was actually his, that he – in the unsalted style of Tuđman – adjusted the tactics for coach Dragan Stojkovic and ordered which players to be included in the starting lineup.
He would also add that he has made some big deals in Qatar, from which the people of Serbia will live even better than they do now.
However, since Vučić’s standard political-propaganda operation remained an empty dream, he organized one of his special political-propaganda operations, in order to present himself once again as a savior of the Serbian people and as a relevant factor in this part of Europe.
The latest fake assassination attempt on him again passed without a trace, while Croatia is currently in a football euphoria, so it does not give him a cent, ear.
On the other hand, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, after the shock and distrust, a relatively constructive process of establishing state power is underway, so Vučić returned to his biggest hit – northern Kosovo, where a small part of Serbs still live.
What we are seeing in the last few days in northern Kosovo is just another performance by Vučić, which gives him the opportunity to once again, like all psychopaths with narcissistic personality disorders, put himself in the spotlight, talk at length about how bad he feels, how difficult it is for Kosovo politicians, and style himself in such a cowardly way as the savior of Serbia.
And after each of his complaints, the Serbian media treats some Serbs from Kosovo like bears on a chain, for whom the meaning of life is to dance exactly as Vučić tells them.
Kurti defeated Vučić in every aspect, so without a doubt this is an additional reason for the latest escalation of the situation.
In fact, Vučić was masterfully defeated in recent weeks by Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who proved that there is no better penicillin for the inflammation called Vučić than cold rationality, calmness, and perseverance.
So, Vučić is losing his temper precisely for this reason, because he himself realized that he is not up to Kurti, who is not at all impressed by his dramatic acting, so he had no choice but to call Kurti “terrorist scum” and honor the Kosovo Serbs who are willing to cooperate with him, with even worse insults.
It is difficult to say exactly what the current dispute between Serbia and Kosovo is about, because it is about technical reasons, such as license plates, posters at border crossings and such nonsense about where whose flag hangs.
The worst thing is that Vučić has once again encouraged a part of Kosovo Serbs to work to their detriment, as he once did with the Croatian Serbs in Knin.
The President of Serbia is actually doing everything possible to make the Serbs from northern Kosovo disappear.
This, unfortunately, would not make him the first Serbian leader who is ready to sacrifice his people in the name of territory, regularly lying to them that he is working to reconquer it.
It is disturbing to see how much this complex man, who seems to have no idea what he is talking about, hates the Serbian people and how much he is trying to destroy the lives of another generation of Serbs.
The Serbs are for him simply props in the show, or more precisely an excuse for him to appear on some regime television and ask important rhetorical questions to senior US and European Union officials, before whom he regularly kneels behind the scenes like a vile beggar and begs for more money.
It is a disgusting theatrical performance how Vučić has once again crawled under the feet of Brussels and Washington, especially when we remember that ten days ago he threatened in his media that he would not appear at the EU and Western Balkans summit in Tirana, in order to bow down to those who are there for a few days only for the needs of domestic politics.
What a cowardly thug
The threat of war also helps Vučić in the stunt called Serbia’s foreign policy, because during his false attempt to supposedly prevent the war in Kosovo, no one asks him when he will impose sanctions on Russia.
All this is happening behind the backs of ordinary people, who are being asked to sacrifice their lives in the name of Vučić’s latest fashion. Tragic.
However, no matter how transparent Vučić’s game is, there is always a chance that things will get out of control and mass shootings will actually start.
Considering the current situation in Europe and the geopolitical balance of power, it is difficult to bet that Serbia would emerge victorious from the war with Kosovo, because whatever victory might be called in that case, the Kosovo Serbs would pay the highest price for Vučić’s madness.
The more Vučić advocates for them, the worse their lives become; the more he guarantees their safety, the less secure they are.
He has in fact long ago handed their fate over to the various Serbian criminal gangs that roam northern Kosovo and that pose a much greater threat to them than the Kosovo police or army.
Of course, the Kosovar side in all this chaos is also playing its game, but it plays much smarter than Vučić.
Kosovo Serbs should finally understand that they are just pawns in someone else’s game and that it is wiser for them to bet on the winner.
And one thing is certain: Aleksandar Vučić will not be the winner. Because he is the one who pushes them to jump from a high cliff into a deep abyss.
It is boring to see how, despite this factual reality, many of them are willing to be his hounds.
