“Constantinople, August 22. Telegram from the Foreign Paper. From a Turkish source: Several army commanders reported to the Grand Vizier that there is a terrible demoralization in the Serbian army. Officers are said to be shooting at the privates, and the latter at the officers. Many Serbs are even said to be mutilating themselves to avoid serving under the strict Russian officers.”
