Cited from the news article from 1912:
“Vienna, November 17: Terrible news is coming in about the capture of the Albanian city of Prizrend by the Serbs. Official confirmation is still pending, but the reports come from a credible source. Since November 4th, there has been no word from the Austro-Hungarian consul, Prochaska, who was stationed there. Along the road to Prizrend, the Serbs set fire to all the Albanian villages, which were deserted except for a few elderly and infirm people.
The population of Prizrend consists of 36,000 Albanians and 5,000 Serbs. The Serbian troops are said to have received word that many Serbs had been murdered by Albanians shortly before. This ignited an immense rage among the Serbian troops. They broke into the houses and slaughtered the inhabitants. Consul Prochaska had raised the Austro-Hungarian flag at the Austro-Hungarian consulate.
Numerous Albanian notables with their wives and children had sought refuge in the consulate. They were allegedly driven out of the consulate by the invading Serbian troops with rifle butts, despite the consul’s protests, and many were killed by bayonet thrusts.”
