In Kosovo, authorities condemned the killing of a 14-year-old Albanian boy in a village in the Gjilan region of eastern Kosovo. Police officials said they were holding a member of the Serb community under arrest on suspicion of the murder.

Leutrim Musliu from the village of Uglar in the Gjilan region, born in 1997, was killed under unclear circumstances while carrying wood from a forest in that village with his father. He was shot with a gun, while at the same time the animals that were pulling the cart in which the victim was located were also killed.

Police said that as part of the investigation, a member of the Serbian community from the village of Pasjan in the same region was arrested. The arrested man was born in 1967, while his identity has not been disclosed. During the raid, weapons and ammunition were also found and confiscated from him.

The murder was strongly condemned by Kosovo President Behgjet Pacolli and the Speaker of the Kosovo Parliament, Jakup Kransiqi. They described it as a serious and ugly act, while calling on law enforcement agencies to quickly investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The police have not provided any further details about the possible motives for this case, while the Council for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms estimates that, based on its information, the murder was committed for ethnic reasons.
