Lying as a fundamental Serbian principle

Lying as a fundamental Serbian principle

by Lirim Gashi, Pristina

Dobrica Qosiq, “Father of the Serbian Nation”, the ideologist of the Serbian lie and the cause of Serbian genocide and ethnic cleansing at the end of the 20th century.

“We lie to deceive ourselves, to console others; we lie out of pity, we lie out of shame, to encourage, to hide our misery, we lie out of honesty. We lie out of freedom. Lying is a natural state of the Serbian language, people and state. It is patriotism and confirmation of our innate intelligence. We lie creatively, imaginatively, inventively,” said Dobrica Qosiq, describing the history, present and future of Serbian politics.
Cosic wrote this in 1961 in the book ‘Deobe’.

The partisan fighter and political commissar, the writer who opposed the policies of Josip Broz Tito and the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, first secretly due to the dismissal of his comrade Aleksandar Ranković, and then publicly and declaratively at the session of the Central Committee of the League of Communists of Serbia at the end of May 1968.

“Terror and violence are being exercised against Serbs in Kosovo by Albanians participating in the Kosovo Government,” Qosiq lied, while the Central Committee of the Communist League of Serbia rejected such claims, expelled Qosiq from the Party, and thus made him a dissident.
The birth of the ‘Father of the Nation’ and the revival of Saint Sava’s nationalism.

In the 1980s, Cosic returned to public politics, founding the Committee for the Protection of Freedom of Thought and Speech in 1984, which protected all opponents of socialist Yugoslavia. However, he expressed his deeply nationalist views, which may be rooted in the nationalism and fascism of Saint Sava, in a Memorandum published in September 1986 by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Precisely because of the extremely chauvinistic, big-Serbian and irredentist stances of this memorandum, it is believed that Dobrica Qosiq participated in its creation. Due to the restoration of big-Serbian ultranationalism and the fascism of Saint Sava, some in Serbia today consider Qosiq the “Father of the Nation”.

Cosic was pleased with Slobodan Milosevic’s rise to power. His rallies in Gazimestan and northern Kosovo, in which he appeared as the “savior” of Serbs in the former Yugoslavia and a harbinger of future wars, inspired Dobrica Cosic’s return to the political scene. Cosic then founded the Serbian Democratic Party in Croatia in 1989 with Jovan Raskovic, and a year later, together with Radovan Karadzic and Biljana Plavsic, he founded a party of the same name in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the dissolution of Yugoslavia, both participated in organizing Serbian military uprisings in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and encouraged the realization of the ideas from the SANU Memorandum.
The post of President of the FRY and the quarrel with Slobodan Milošević.

Dobrica Cosic is the first president of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Milosevic’s successor, but after the conflict with Milosevic in 1993 he left the presidency, accusing the Serbian ‘leader’ of treason, namely for failing to create Greater Serbia.

Cosic called the establishment of the so-called Republika Srpska the greatest success of his politics, but also of Serbian politics in the 20th century.

“Not only the direct perpetrators should be held responsible for the war and crimes, but also the instigators of the crimes,” Aleksandar Popov, director of the Center for Regionalization in Novi Sad, had said, criticizing Dobrica Cosic. “Those whose ideas were initiated by a crowd of thieves, criminals and murderers should also be held responsible. The fact that they did not kill anyone with their own hands does not diminish their responsibility,” Popov said.

However, Qosiq was never held accountable for the massacres and ‘human displacements’ he inspired by creating the Memorandum and for the restoration of Greater Serbian nationalism and Saint Sava’s fascism.
Behind it all lies his ideology.

What characterizes the political work of Dobrica Qosiq and his collaborators, which became an inseparable part of Serbian political thought, is still ‘Lies’.

That is, Cosic all the time, with his quotes, but also with his work on the Memorandum, then as President of the FRY and co-founder of two political parties in Croatia and BiH that supported genocide and ethnic cleansing, emphasized lies as the art of survival of the Serbian people. Cosic accepted lies as the main tool through which the Serbian people try to justify all the criminal actions they have committed in order not to experience catharsis and to accept the naked facts.

“Lies are a Serbian state interest,” says Cosic, and for this reason he denied the genocide committed by Ratko Mladic in Srebrenica, while the latter tried to realize the ideas of Cosic’s Memorandum through war.
Thus, Cosic again writes in the style of Joseph Goebbels and says that in Serbia “every lie eventually becomes the truth” trying to justify all the propaganda that he and his political collaborators and like-minded people gave to the people of Serbia.

The rehabilitation processes of known Chetnik and fascist criminals and ideologues, which have been taking place in the Belgrade courts since 2009, under the auspices of the top of today’s Serbian power, are the result of Cosic’s ideas and work.

Cosic’s deified lie and the salvation of Serbia

The extent to which this deified lie of Qosiq has an impact on Serbs can be seen in a quote from his diary on the night NATO stopped bombing Yugoslavia:

“Generals, politicians and journalists: The occupation of Kosovo should be interpreted as the defense of the state, territorial integrity and sovereignty.”

Imagine a ruined, crippled and defeated Serbia with thousands killed and wounded, declaring national victory, farce after farce!

Qosić understands the farce as a combination between his teaching and the nationalism of Saint Sava, which he revived for Serbs in cooperation with the Serbian Orthodox Church through the SANU Memorandum.
However, Serbian politics, the Serbian Orthodox Church, intellectuals and politicians will never give up on his lie, because in that case their entire surreal world of political and religious myths with which they fed the Serbian people and deceived the international community would collapse.

As Cosic wrote, “Lies are a Serbian state interest,” because they are in the very being of every Serb, and because “Serbs have been saved many times in history by lies.”

Because of this entire successful history of deception and lies, the Serbian political and ecclesiastical government will never give up any deception or lie, on the contrary, it will forever be served by deception and lies.

The “Father of the Serbian Nation” as far as Serbian politics is concerned can rest in peace, because his lies saved Serbs and Serbia from any responsibility. Therefore, they continue to be practiced by today’s Serbian political and ecclesiastical elites better than he could ever have hoped.

His political “children” are very obedient and polite, which is why they continue to lie to “their suffering people” and provoke the victims of their bigotry.
