Kosovo police have arrested several Serbs during the end of the “Vidovdan” demonstration in Gazimestan.

Hundreds of Serbs who gathered to celebrate “Vidovdan” were dispersed with religious songs and prayers.

As a result of the gathering of Serbs in Gazimestan, which is located near Obiliq, long columns formed on the Pristina-Mitrovicë highway.

Previously, the Kosovo Police published several instructions and requests for participants, stating that holding various flags, banners or symbols that represent and incite hatred is not allowed.

Kosovo Police units were positioned at key points to control all participants.

Every year, hundreds of citizens participate in this ritual, but almost always the Kosovo Police intervened after they were found wearing flags or t-shirts with provocative content, including symbols or figures that are considered inciting in the security context.

Last year, 17 people were arrested, one of whom was armed.

Gazimestan is a place near Pristina that annually brings together Serbs to convey nationalist messages. Ten years after Milosevic held the rally there, Kosovo has been liberated from 100 years of Serbian rule and has declared independence 17 years ago.

Every June 28, groups of extremists from all over Serbia visit Orthodox monasteries throughout Kosovo, as well as Gazimestan, during which visits they call for Kosovo to be reoccupied.
