After a battle lasting from 4:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Serbs were defeated and dispersed. The barges they had prepared to invade Turkish territory, as well as the large stone-built fort located at the same spot, belonging to the wealthy Serb Kostic Jowo, were destroyed. A large, beautiful house and more than 40 other houses were set on fire by the Serbs themselves.

The value of the items that fell into the possession of the Turkish troops, such as rusks, clothing, weapons, etc., exceeds 5000 livres, not including the items destroyed by the flames. The Serbian cannons were smashed. The Turks suffered only 10 dead and 20 wounded, while the enemy left more than 400 dead on the battlefield. Widdin, July 14. The local artillery command received 550 horses today as the first shipment from Timișoara, where a Turkish commission is meeting to procure riding and draft horses for the Ottoman army.

From an Austrian Turkish source: As a result of the fighting that took place in the vicinity of Widdin last Wednesday, the Serbs, pursued by the Turks, retreated back across the Timișoara, and the governor advanced with 2000 Turks heading towards Serbia”.
