Why do we erase 200 years of Serbian-Bulgarian occupation of Albania in the 13th and 14th centuries (1200-1300?)

Lenin on November 3, 1920 at the Education Conference said that we must move away from the old point of view that education is apolitical. Education should be used for the communist education of people. It should be completely political and completely ideological.

According to this, in relation to history, it does not matter at all what the truth about the events was. What matters is the political stance on those events. The young communist man does not know, does not know and should not know. He has a duty to take a stance.

For example, in the history of Albania, 200 years of Serbian and Bulgarian occupation in the years 1200-1300 disappear. They have not been revealed and heroized so much. In Ioannina, a Serbian despot named Thoma Preljubovic ruled with the official nickname “Albanovrasësi”, that is, the murderer of the Albanians. Gjin Bua Shpata and Pjetër Losha fought hard against this. The war was so intense that the Albanians sought help from the Latins and then the Ottomans to protect themselves from the military campaigns of the Albanians/Arbanians.

In Vlora, the brother of the Tsar of Bulgaria ruled as the viceroy of Tsar Dushan because Dushan had conquered all of present-day Albania and was crowned Tsar in Seres of Thessaloniki. Shkodra had also been conquered by the Nemanjas of Serbia since the 1200s. John Muzaka writes that in the mid-1300s, Andrea Muzaka II defeated the Serbian king Vukash in Pelister near Manastir and took Kostur as a key point and thus the liberation of the Arbanians began little by little because the Serbs had total control.

On the other hand, western Albania was ruled by the Angevins and Philip of Tarentum massacred the Arbanians in an exemplary manner. He captured half of the princes and imprisoned them in Brindisi. The strongest Albanian families at that time were the Balshajs and the Muzakajs. Even the Balshajs and Gjin Bua Shpata are the first to seriously fight both against the Serbs and against the Turks. However, these, their families and their history have remained in the second or third plan.

Because Tsar Dushan, Preljubovic “the Albanian killer” and Vukashin or Nemanjat as a name are not painted as Gogol in the history of Albania. Dushan even approved the “Zakonik” canon which stipulated that those who do not convert to the Serbian religion, are killed.

Andrea Muzaka II has a fresco in the church of Shëm Athanas in Kostur because he was a great ruler with rule from Durrës to the coast in Thessaloniki as he was also titled “Marshal of Albania” but his history is not known that much, it remains in the second plan because he and his in-laws, the Gropaj family defeated the Serbian kraljs not only in Pelister but in many places.

Neither Andrea Muzaka II, nor Pjetër Losha and Gjin Bua Shpata have statues in Albania because a statue would force us to tell their story. And their story is the epic war against the Serbian krajls like Dushan and Vukashini and despots like Thoma Prejlubovic, baptized as the “Albanian Killer”.

The young Albanian man has the duty to be ignorant but to take a stand. Not to know, not to recognize, not to read, not to reason. Just to take a stand as Lenin tells us about education. We love the ignorant militant, it is enough to take a political stand on events and issues.
