“Novi Pazar, July 11: The Serbs who had attacked the Turkish fortress of Eski Kilissé suffered a bloody defeat, leaving behind more than 500 men as well as just as many rifles and cartridge pouches on the battlefield. The Turks suffered only a few dead and wounded. The cannon positioned by the Serbs on a hill opposite the fortress had fired barely five shots when it was struck and destroyed by a cannonball fired from the fortress. Had the combatants not been overtaken by nightfall, the Serbian force of 4,000 men would have been completely annihilated.”

Višegrad, July 11: More than 3,000 Serbs who had attacked the fortifications surrounding Višegrad were completely defeated by Ottoman troops and put to flight. The Serbs losses are considerable. The number of their dead is not yet known.”
