Albanian Human Rights Activist and Poet Flora Brovina sits in a Serbian police

Human rights activist and poet Flora Brovina sits in a police car as a guard closes the net behind her, as she leaves the District Court in Nish, Serbia, on September 14. Ms. Brovina was sentenced to 12 years in prison for “terrorist activity,” but Serbia’s Supreme Court overturned the verdict and ordered a new trial on Sunday, September 17, 2000.
