“Bulgarian Heart Articles.
Sophia, June 27. The attitude of the Bulgarian Bresse remains serious, and events in Serbia are viewed with the greatest suspicion. It is noteworthy that, despite strict censorship, even an article in the government gazette fell victim to it, the publication of statistical data from Macedonia is permitted, in which the atrocities committed by Serbs and Greeks are discussed.
The “Veccherna Posta” publishes some of these bloody events in Uesküb [Uskub, Skopje,] and adds:
“All of Macedonia is a bloody arena, a thousand times larger and bloodier than it was before Istip. Today, Macedonia is dying under the Greek and Serbian knife. Who could blame the Bulgarians for exercising their power against those who are establishing a new, terrible slavery there? In light of these atrocities in Macedonia, we calmly accept responsibility for a new war. Pure blame can be placed on Bulgaria, which does not want the Macedonians to be exterminated. Turkish rule was ideal compared to that of the Serbs.”
“Dnevnik” also publishes reports of Serbian and Greek carnage in Macedonia. The paper says:
“A Bulgarian historian has rightly described the Serbs as the most uncivilized people in the Balkans. What the Serbs are doing now in Macedonia shows that they have no trace of culture. This people, who murder their kings, is gripped by utter madness, for which there are only straitjackets. The Serbs must be expelled from the Balkans as a political entity.”
The newspaper “Utro” also believes the danger of war has not diminished and thinks there is every reason to take action against Serbia”.
