Greenland, Somaliland, Venezuela, and the world as animals: Serbian propaganda’s perspective

by Gurakuç Kuçi

Venezuela, Greenland, and Somaliland are the first three comparisons Serbia has drawn against Kosovo this year. According to Serbian propaganda, every event occurring worldwide is linked to Serbs and Kosovo. It is worth recalling that Serbia asked the UN’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) for a ruling on Kosovo’s right to declare independence. The ICJ provided an answer, yet—as is always the case for the Serbian state and its regimes—the truth is defined solely by what suits their interests.

From a psychological perspective, individuals who reject facts—even when they are obvious—and exhibit a serious detachment from reality are described as: deniers, delusional, suffering from cognitive dissonance, or psychotic.

From a sociological and political perspective, those who are aware of reality yet deny it, rewriting facts to serve their interests because the truth conflicts with their ideology, are labeled: reality revisionists, propagandists/manipulators, and dogmatists.

The psycho-sociological state of the Serbian regime and the hundreds of online propaganda outlets reveal an extensive effort to manipulate both the Serbian and international public. They go so far as to produce animated videos to further these agendas.

To make matters worse, in this propaganda video, Serbian propaganda depicts the rest of the world as animals—specifically, as a penguin, implying ignorance—while portraying Serbs as enlightened individuals who are educating others.

This approach reveals that Serbian propaganda has lost all sense of restraint, confirming the words of Serbian academic Dobrica Ćosić himself: “A lie is a form of Serbian patriotism.”

There are certainly still many people in Serbia who remain rational and immune to this propaganda; however, unless you quickly rescue Serbia from this suffocation, you too will sink along with it. Therefore, save Serbia from itself.
