In 1876, the “Erheiterungen” published an article, first published in the newspaper “K3TG”, citing a correspondent from Constantinople, about a sword dedicated to Constantine XI Dragases Palaiologos or Dragaš Palaeologus, which was believed to have been made in St. Petersburg some time during the 1700s. The sword was found in the possession of an Albanian family.

Cited:

“The sword of the Emperor Konstantin Dragazes: The K3tg writes a correspondent from Constantinople: A Frenchman has recently published a book about the sword of the first Greek Emperor Konstantin Dragazes. The weapon was in the possession of an Albanian family. I saw and examined it here with my own eyes a few years ago and I consider it to be a piece that was probably made in Petersburg under Catherine II and intended for use by the inhabitants of the Balkan Peninsula.

However, you can read on the blade the writing” KONCTANTINOC BAC Ο ΔΡΑΓΑΖHC”, “Emperor Konstantin Dragazes” but above it is a trophy of drums, sabers and guns. These lecters have bayonets in the shape that they only came into being in the time of Frederick the Great. It shouldn’t surprise me if the thing today is passed off as Skanderbeg’s sword, which he would have gotten from Constantine”.

The inscription on the blade.

The sword is according to the text engraved with drums, sabers and flintlocks with 18th century style bayonets.
