“Clashes have already broken out between Montenegrins and Albanians in northern Albania. Reports from Scutari state that on the morning of the 11th, Montenegrins attempted a foraging expedition on Albanian territory near Golobosnic but were ambushed by Mirdites and Shkrelis from neighboring areas; in a one-hour skirmish, they were driven far back across the border. The Montenegrins suffered several wounded, and ten prisoners remained in Albanian hands.
The Governor of Scutari reported a second incident on the 12th: Montenegrins attacked the Albanian position at Vranja Matagouse in the afternoon. The engagement lasted two hours. The Montenegrins eventually retreated, losing one officer and 12 men. Albanian losses amounted to two dead and three wounded. The disparity in casualties stems from the fact that the Albanians were entrenched behind fortified positions, while the Montenegrins were compelled to attack them there.”
